Rabagliati, 50, drew a quick sketch and signed her copy of Paul au parc ( Paul at the Park), the artist-author’s latest in a series of seven long-form comics, or graphic novels. Standing face-to-face with Paul’s creator, the smiling and bespectacled Michel Rabagliati, whose life Paul is, essentially, living, Linteau beamed. Paul’s mug has appeared on everything from shopping bags to chocolate bars. He has become much more popular than Asterix, than any American superhero. ![]() Paul is a comic book character who is stirring up ever more fervour in Quebec with each new book detailing his life. Paul is, instead, a fairly homely - or to be generous, average-looking - fellow with a check mark nose and a rounded jaw. Paul is not a boy she’s in love with, a celebrity, say, like Justin Bieber or Taylor Lautner. But Laura Linteau was already near the front, gripping the image of her beloved Paul to her chest. MONTREAL-It was the longest lineup by far at the recent book expo here, so long they had to stop people from joining it. ![]()
